CONFERENCE OVERVIEW
The 2019-2020 institute will focus on helping participants to develop a more in depth understanding of culturally responsive teaching. A cohort model will be utilized, allowing for participants to dive deeper into the concepts with the speakers. We will also examine how integrating mathematics with English Language Arts, Science, and the Arts can further engage students in the learning.
This conference series seeks to accomplish the following:
a.) Acknowledgement of ones biases b.) Critical reflection on teaching practice c.) Realize that ones biases and experiences directly impacts what students can/cannot learn 3. Create a counter narrative to stereotypes typically associated with children of color and children in poverty.(Critical Race Pedagogy) 4.Empower teachers and students to embody a classroom that is engaging and responsive to all.
